Criminal Injury Compensation

If you have been a victim of an assault or any criminal action and as a result have suffered physical or mental injury, then you can submit an application for compensation to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA). We will guide you through the process and advise you regarding the correct tariff for awards and, if necessary, arrange a review of an award if it is wrong,or appeal against a wrong decision if that is required. You must always report the incident to the police immediately and must co-operate with the police regarding any criminal prosecutions.

As a general rule, the application form must be submitted to the CICA within 2 years of the incident date.

The CICA does not pay an Applicant’s legal costs. We offer a fixed scheme of costs which enables you to pursue your claim with the CICA safe in the knowledge that costs are fixed and only payable in a successful application with nothing to pay if the application does not succeed.
