Allastair read Law at Liverpool University, qualifying as a solicitor in 1971. After completing his training at a City Centre Law firm, he worked in local government for 9 years as Chief Assistant Solicitor to St Helens Council before moving back into private practice as a partner in a law firm in St Helens. Allastair joined Abensons as a Consultant in 1999.

Allastair practices in the area of Dispute Resolution with an emphasis on property related litigation and local government law. Allastair also has considerable experience dealing with Insolvency and Bankruptcy, Contractual Disputes and Employment Law.
